Mobile Home Park Owner Fined For Sewage Violations

The Department of Environmental Protection has fined a Harrisburg, Pennsylvania mobile home park owner $123,570 for allowing sewage from his treatment plant to discharge into a nearby stream.

Frank Perano, the owner of Dauphin County Mobile Home Park, has allowed repeated cases of discharge from his over-loaded treatment plant.

Perano was repeatedly warned by the DEP of the violations, and the importance of putting together a plan to correct the conditions. However, he failed to make any repairs or put forth a plan to remediate the problem.

“Mr. Perano failed to operate the treatment plant in a manner protective of the public’s health” said a DEP Director Rachel Diamond.

Frank & Dave’s analysis of this story:
Private sewage is extremely scary stuff. When Dave and I want to get scared, we don’t go to see a horror movie, we go stare at a lagoon in a park. How about that fine? Are you still thinking that mom & pop have a clue on their private sewage situation? This guy probably is looking at spending more on the sewage treatment plant and fine than he did on the whole park. Ouch!
